White Flint Underground Transmission Project
Client: Pepco
Pepco is constructing a new 69kV/13kV substation in the White flint neighborhood in Rockville, MD. CW & Sons was contracted to enhance the reliability of the transmission supplies for a new substation by constructing new underground duct banks and diverting existing electric supplies. The work requires dual CSX crossings utilizing trenchless construction via a Micro Tunnel and allow for PEPCO’s 69kv feeders to supply the newly built White Flint Substation. This project features Substation wall terminations, pole terminations, over 2 miles of trench excavation and PVC duct bank installation, 7-ft x32-ft manholes, dog-house style manholes around pipe type feeders, and relocation coordination with PEPCO, Washington Gas and the site civil general contractor.
